Edinburgh Launch Event -31st Oct

On October 31st, we officially launched CDT in Green Industrial Futures in Edinburgh. It was an opportunity to welcome our new students and partners to the programme and explore ways to develop lasting partnerships and collaboration. The positive energy in the room was palpable so thank you to all our attendees for joining us. We hope you enjoyed the fantastic view of Edinburgh Castle from the venue as much as we did.

Thank you also to our speakers for highlighting the priorities, challenges and opportunities for decarbonisation in the UK: Edmund Ward (DESNZ), Chris Wright (Centrica), Lorraine Whitmarsh MBE (University of Bath), Mark Lamont (OPITO), and our training partners for showcasing their facilities and programmes, and how we are building opportunities for CDT-GIF students: Helen Taylor-Curran (ECCSEL ERIC), Frank Morton (National Carbon Capture Center), Jonathan Kemp (Engineering for Change, LLC).

Our Heriot-Watt University Principle, Prof. Richard Williams, summed it up perfectly in his welcoming address with the three P’s for success: Partnership, pioneering research and prominence. We are striving to embed these elements at the heart of CDT-GIF.
